Batch creation of SKUs in Seller Center

Jumia's Seller Center 1.0 supports both single and bulk uploading of SKUs. Single uploading mode is applicable to sellers with less than 100 products (SKUs less than 100). Sellers can create new products in the product management interface. According to the system prompt, sellers can fill in the information of SKUs one by one and then submit it to complete the product creation. If there are too many SKUs to be uploaded. It is recommended that the seller download the template and upload the finished offline form to the system. The operations for batch SKU creation are as follows.

Step 1: Enter the SKU creation page

Path: Products >> Create A New Product

Step 2: Find the corresponding template for batch uploading of SKUs

The downloading page of the template is shown below

  • Template opening or editor selection

If all the templates in the background of the Seller Center are opened directly with EXCEL, multiple cells may be merged, and column splitting is required. The Seller is recommended to download "Open Office" (click here to download). After "Open Office" is downloaded and installed, the downloaded files can be opened with "Open Office" for automatic column splitting.

  • Batch upload of SKUs can be done in three steps
  1. Download the template; complete the form and save it on your computer.
  2. Upload your file.
  3. Monitor import result
  • Product creation by category?

As shown above, three types of category templates are available in the template download area

  1. Product Updates: It is used for batch updating of price, inventory, or images of SKUs.
  2. Category Tree: Please download this form to view details of all categories on Jumia.
  3. Product Creation by Category: It is used for batch uploading of SKUs.

You have to choose the correct category for batch upload, so it is recommended that you download the "Category Tree" before uploading SKUs in batch for the first time, and then search for the appropriate category in "Product Creation by category".

The specific operations are as follows:

Step 1 Click "Download Category Tree" to download the category form

Step 2 Open the form to find the accurate SKU category

For example: If your product is a women's skirt, you should pull down the category tree to find "Fashion", then go to "Women's Fashion"......and finally to "Skirt".

Now, return to Product creation by category, and click "Control + F" to search Skirt.

Tips: There are different category templates for you to download when you choose batch upload. It is recommended that you download the category tree first, then find the category of your product, and return to the seller center. You can find the corresponding category by searching for the keywords in the browser.

1. Introduction to the batch upload form

The batch upload form has 5 sheets, with the functions of each sheet as follows:

  • Introduction: You can learn how to use this form to upload the products in batch by reading the introduction.
  • Upload Template: This form involves all the necessary properties of the SKUs to be uploaded in batches. The sample data in the form are for your reference. You need to complete the form based on the properties of your product. You should delete the sample data when filling the product information.
  • Categories: There are two columns involving the product category in the Upload Template, which will be completed by referring to this form.
  • The pull-down options in the batch SKU upload form: There are some pull-down options in the Upload Template, which will be completed by referring to this form.

2. Introduction to filling the Upload Template

Click here to see the note of "single SKU upload" for reference. Unlike single SKU upload, there are format requirements for completing the batch SKU upload form, which requires special attention. The details are as follows:

  • Basic information
    • Name: required The product name must be accurate and clear. It should contain the specific product name, e.g. Type of Product+ Mode+ Key Feature+ Color. No brand name is allowed in the product name. Keep the first letter in uppercase.

Tips: If you are listing SKUs in an FBJ shop at the site in Côte d'Ivoire, the product title must be in French. If you use an English title, Jumia can offer a translation service, with a charge rate of 1000FCFA/SKU.

Primary Category: required, fill in category code Find the Category ID in the "Categories" form and select the most detailed category through the pull-down menu. As shown in the figure below, the category code is "1024587".

  • Brand: required. You must select it from the pull-down list. For branded products, please fill in the brand name in this field. If the brand does not exist in the background, you need to create the brand. Click here and fill in the form to create the brand. (Tips: Please log in to the Platform via the Internet to get the application form.) For unbranded products, fill in "Fashion "for fashion products and" Generic "for products of other categories. Refer to the Specifications of Product Listing for details.

Remarks:

(1) If you want to register an official shop

When applying for registration on Jumia, if your shop is named XXX Official store (official shop), the data review staff will take the initiative to contact you by email and request you to provide the corresponding brand authorization. Once the shop is registered, the seller is not allowed to change the shop name.

(2) If you want to list branded products:

  1. If the brand already exists in the background but is restricted (when you choose this brand to create a product, the system will prompt that this is a Restricted brand), the seller is required to submit the corresponding brand authorization documentation through RAC, such as brand registration certificate, official authorization.
  2. If the brand does not exist in the background, you need to create the brand. Click here and fill in the form to create the brand. (Tips: Please log in to the Platform via the Internet to get the application form.)
  • Model:The filling requirement of this field varies according to different categories. For fashion products such as apparel, shoes, and accessories, this field may be left blank; for 3C electronic products, this field is required to show the product models.
  • Colorrequired It either represents the main color of the product or expresses certain tone characteristics or a specific color description of a brand, such as Royal Blue, Mint Green, Peach Red, Milano Red, etc.

Special tips:If your product contains a variety of colors, please use the most representative color or the widest coverage color of the product in the description. Do not use words like "multi-color" to describe the color. Otherwise, it may cause the failure of the online review of the product content.

  • Price
    • Sale Price: required, number only The actual selling price of the product, in local currency. Sale price ≤ original price It is suggested to use 99 to fill in the last two digits of the sale price, e.g. $29099.
    • Price:** required, number only** The original selling price of the product, in local currency. The discount must be real and effective. False discount is prohibited on JUMIA.
    • Sale Start Date: required. The effective date of the actual sale price of the product.
    • Sale End Date: required. The end date of the actual sale price of the product.

Note: the date format is year-month-day, e.g. 2000-05-21; you need to set the format of these two cells as "text".

  • SKU information
  • SellerSku: required.

The product name is not generated by the system. It can be decided by the seller according to its naming custom, without any restriction on its format.

It will be displayed in the SKU column of the product management section in the Seller Center:

  • Product ID:EAN/UPC /ISBN code, Jumia has no requirement for this, fill in N/A.
  • SKU variation (ParentSku):The Parent SKU must be the variation in the Seller SKU. If the product has no variation, leave it blank.

Case 1: The product has size variations but has only one color

If the variations of a T-shirt range from XS to XL, and if the T-shirt has only one color - blue, as shown above, you should fill in the following information when uploading the product in batch:

Case 2: The product has size variations and multiple colors

If the variations of slippers range from EU38 to EU46, and the slippers have different colors, the seller needs to upload the slippers with different colors as the different products, because Jumia only takes the size (not color or model) as the variation. The filling example is shown below:

Case 3: The product has no size variations

Non-fashion items generally have no size variations. For these items, you can leave the Parent SKU field blank. Variation is not required, you can fill in "..." or leave it blank.

  • Quantity:required Fill in the available inventory of the product.

Description of product quantity

  • If you list the product of a Dropshipping (DS) shop (click here to see how to identify a DS shop), you can fill in the product quantity according to the actual saleable inventory. This value must be **an integer greater than "0" so that the product can be displayed on the marketplace after passing online approval. Otherwise, the product cannot be listed due to zero inventory.
  • If you list the product of a Fulfillment by Jumia (FBJ) shop (click here to see how to identify a FBJ shop), Jumia's FBJ reserves the right to change the inventory of FBJ through FBJ account. The seller cannot change the inventory without authorization.
    • When uploading the products, do not fill in the inventory (0 is not acceptable). The quantity of SKUs is subject to that recorded by Jumia FBJ during inbounding.
    • After uploading the product, do not change the inventory quantity. If you find any data error, please Raise a Claim in time.
    • If the sellers change the inventory without authorization, resulting in abnormal orders (e.g. a DS order is generated by a FBJ account), the sellers shall be responsible for order cancellation and its consequences.
  • Variationrequired; you only need to fill in product size (e.g. S M L XL XXL) as the variation. Color and model are not allowed to be used as variations on Jumia. You can check the current variations for Fashion items in the "Option" form
  • Product Description
    • Product Description: required. This field should provide consumers with useful information about the product. Please ensure that the description is clear and accurate for their reference. There should be no grammatical errors in the description.
    • Short Description: required; please fill in the content in HTML format Key notes must be represented in the form of short major highlights and at least three short major highlights shall be added. For 3C electronic products, at least seven short major highlights shall be listed, including but not limited to Operation System (OS), Camera, Display, Memory, Processor, Battery, and Color.

How to generate qualified short-descriptions and convert them into HTML format.

The short major highlights are better organized, making it easier for consumers to understand the key features of the product. The product description section of the Seller Center can serve as an HTML viewer, which can directly generate item numbers of highlights. Follow the steps below to easily list the highlights of your product.

Step 1: Enter Seller Center V1.0 (SC) and select "Create A New Product "; input or paste highlights of the product and select them in the "Highlights" section.

Step 2: On the function bar above, click "Insert item numbers" to list the short major highlights of the product in sequence.

Step 3: Select all the short descriptions that have been listed as short major highlights; click "HTML" icon on the far left of the function bar above the "Highlight" to convert the short descriptions into HTML format.

  • Upload images (*required): You are required to upload up to 8 product images; the main image should display the front side of the product. The images should be 200x200 to 3000x3000 px in size, with the format of URL.

How to upload the images with the format of URL?

Login to the standard image conversion tool, upload the images to the tool, select "Convert image into URL, and paste the converted URL links in the table.

  • Other information: You can search for the existing variations such as Shop Type, Color Family, Material Family in the "Option" form by selecting them from the pull-down list. Please follow the guidelines to fill in other information.

Step 5: After completing the form of batch SKU creation, please upload it.

After the above steps are completed, the form needs to be saved as csv, .xlsx or .xls format for uploading.

  1. Click "Create new products".

  1. Select a document to upload.

Step 6: Upon uploading the file, check the upload result.

  1. Click "Monitor Import Result" to check the uploading result.
  2. "Successful" indicates that the form is uploaded.

  1. "Unsuccessful" indicates that the form is not uploaded.
